IBS International Business School Ljubljana, Slovenia, is a small private University of Applied Sciences that carries out BA and MA programmes in the field of international business. IBS and its programmes are fully accredited by Slovene university education authorities. IBS International Business School Ljubljana started to develop student-centred approach in 2009. The teaching methods are based on team learning, e-learning, project work and stimulate knowledge of and respect for different cultures, consideration of ethics, creativity, and motivation of students for lifelong learning. IBS respects the principles of the Bologna declaration, tries to increase the student and personnel mobility, supported by studying in foreign languages, foreign lecturers and work practice.

IBS educates students who acquire a good command of business knowledge, foreign languages, sustainable development and public administration. IBS students are mainly adults who work especially as managers of working organizations, sales engineers, salespeople, executive secretaries, in commercial companies, marketing, in public administration, as project managers, in personnel departments, import/export firms, in tourist organizations, in medical and constructing organizations.

IBS was registered as a research institution under the number 2971. IBS performs research in the areas of economic development, international business economics, human resources management, needs of the labour market, influence of life style on work load, teaching methods, sustainable development etc.

IBS has premises in the centre of Ljubljana. It employs about 60 lecturers and/or 20 researchers. IBS includes in its work also lecturers/researchers from numerous foreign universities.

KAUNO KOLEGIJA, Lithuania

Kauno Kolegija/University of Applied Sciences is one of the largest professional higher education institutions in Lithuania, with a community of over 7 600 students, about 1000 employees and over 18 000 graduates, who have successfully established their careers in Lithuanian and foreign companies. The university delivers the first cycle studies in the areas of technology, biomedicine, humanities, social sciences and art leading to the professional bachelor’s degree. The university has seven faculties and 2 regional departments.Since the establishment of the university opportunities were sought to build productive linkages between education, applied research and the world of business. The results are well developed relations with social partners in Lithuania and abroad, promotion of applied research initiatives and enhanced quality of the study programmes. Educational process makes it possible to expand the range of offered coursers and to improve their contents in response to the actual needs of the labour market and the requirements of European standards.

Since 2000 the number of programmes delivered by Kauno Kolegija/University of Applied Sciences has increased. At present 45 programmes in the areas of biomedicine, technology, social sciences, humanities and art are delivered. Kauno Kolegija/University of Applied Sciences degree programmes are designed with the goal to equip the learners with profound theoretical knowledge and to provide the maximum training of practical skills. Multimedia Technologies, Business English, Trade Management, Food Safety, Sports Management, Photography and Image Design are the new study programmes developed and introduced in response to economic and technological changes.Approximately 30 to 50 per cent of the total study time at Kauno Kolegija/University of Applied Sciences is spent on developing students’ practical skills. Kauno Kolegija/University of Applied Sciences is continually expanding the network of placements; longterm cooperation agreements are signed with Lithuanian and foreign businesses and organizations. The dynamics of placements is also upheld by personal initiative of the faculty and students based on mutual agreements with different organizations.

Kauno Kolegija/University of Applied Sciences is a leader in ensuring the flexibility and accessibility of education. The students can choose distance courses or a mixed mode of studies. Study materials and other education related information is presented in the virtual learning environment.

Teachers use interactive knowledge transfer methods, implement and develop new teaching and learning tools in view of the changing learning styles and emerging technological innovations so that information is communicated in the most comprehensible way.

Kauno Kolegija/University of Applied Sciences is ahead of Lithuanian professional higher education institutions by the number of students going to study or work abroad as part of their degree programme. Each year over 200 students participate in the Erasmus student exchange programme. Outbound mobility is also increased due to active participation of the faculty members and students in intensive Erasmus, NordPlus or bi-lateral cooperation programmes. Kauno Kolegija/University of Applied Sciences collaborates with more than 150 foreign higher education institutions in 33 countries of the world. Studies for a semester or a full academic year in Finland, Denmark, Portugal, and France are the most popular among students. Two study programmes, i.e. Tourism and Hotel Management and General Practice Nursing are delivered in a foreign language. These programmes are often chosen by students from different countries, they are very popular among foreign exchange students too.

Radom Academy of Economics, Poland

Radom Academy of Economics (RAE) is a young (17 years) but constantly progressing the largest in Radom non-state school of Higher Education gaining worldwide recognition. RAE has 3 faculties (Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Strategic and Technical Studies, Faculty of Legal Sciences) and provides many Bachelor degree programmes (Pedagogics, Psychology, Journalism and Social Communication, Internal Security, Information Technology, Management, Administration, Economics, Law in Business and International Relations), Master degree programmes (Pedagogics, Administration, Internal Security) and over 40 postgraduate courses. RAE also runs two first-cycle degree programmes in English: Management (Bachelor degree lasting 3 years) and Information Technology (Engineering studies lasting 3,5 years). Both degree programmes offer a variety of specialties adjusted to demands of present labor market. RAE every year attracts hundreds of international students coming from Ukraine, Belarus, Turkey, Spain, Bulgaria and many other countries that easily adapt themselves into present educational system. At present, RAE has a pleasure to host almost 300 international students that enjoy studying and living in Radom. The premises of our academy are located right in the city center of Radom (a city situated about 100 km south of Warsaw) and comprise the latest infrastructure including, e.g., the Forensic Laboratory and Mobile Shooting Range. Our mission is to educate skilled managers for business needs, government and social organizations. The academy fulfilling its educational activities aims to educate students in the spirit of respect for human rights, patriotism, democracy and responsibility for the welfare of society and state.
